Our top-of-the-line passive DI features the Jensen JT-DB-EPC transformer - world renown for wide frequency response and superior noise rejection characteristics.

Extruded aluminum housing with recessed switches provides expected Whirlwind durability.

Features include:

  • 1/4" input jacks can be used as "INPUT / THRU" or they may be combined with the "COMBINE" pushbutton to safely sum stereo feeds to a single channel.

  • "FILTER / OFF" button engages a filter that emulates the frequency response of a microphone placed in front of a 12” speaker.

  • "PAD" button engages 15dB pad for reducing hot input levels.

  • "REV / Ø" button reverses the polarity from pin 2 hot to pin 3 hot for correcting non-standard equipment and mis-wired cables or for creating special effects.

  • "LIFT / GND" button to help eliminate hum and buzz.

The DIRECT2-JT is Whirlwind's premium Dual Direct box, built with Jensen transformers.
Perfect for converting unbalanced signals from stereo keyboards, acoustic guitar preamps, CD and tape players, computer sound cards, etc. when lowest noise and widest frequency response are required.

Each section features:

  • 1/4" parallel wired IN / THRU jacks, or may be converted to dual inputs with handy COMBINE buttons.
  • -20dB pad button for connection to "hot" input signals
  • Ground lift button to help eliminate hum and buzz
  • Uses Jensen JT-DB-EPC transformers
The input and output grounds of each section are isolated from each other. This allows the DIRECT2-JT to be used as if it were two completely separate DIs without fear of creating ground loop interaction.

Our top-of-the-line DI is an active direct box that operates with batteries or phantom power. 
The HotBox provides super-clean, front-end circuitry that delivers the widest frequency response
of any direct box on the market. The unusually high input impedance reveals hidden harmonics
from guitars with high-output passive pickups.

The provided ground-lift switch is useful for eliminating 60 cycle ground loop hum.

The inst./line/spkr. switch selects between instrument, line, or speaker level inputs.

DIRECT2 Stereo DI


The Whirlwind DIRECT2 combines features found on two of our DIRECTOR® direct boxes in one unit.

Each section is comprised of two 1/4" input jacks, one XLR male output connector, a -20dB pad switch and a ground lift switch. Hi/Lo and unbalanced to balanced conversion is accomplished with the same high quality TRHL-M transformer found in the Whirlwind DIRECTOR.

Perfect for converting unbalanced signals from stereo keyboards, acoustic guitar preamps, CD and tape players, etc.
The input and output grounds are kept isolated from each other so that the DIRECT2 can be used with two separate sources without ground loop interaction.

podDI

The podDI is a single output summing direct box. Use it to connect CD and MP3 players, computer sound card outputs, DJ mixers, etc. to professional equipment with balanced inputs such as a mixing console. Accepts stereo inputs and sums them into a single mono output.

A variable attenuator on each input allows level matching between left and right inputs. This makes the podDI a passive mixer in split track audio applications, balancing the voice track and the music track levels in the summed mono output.

Signal is input via 3.5mm (1/8") stereo TRS jack or color coded RCA phono jacks. An unused input can be used as a "loop through". Output is via a balanced male XLR jack.

Features a ground lift switch to help eliminate hum and buzz.

The podDI can also be used as a high quality single input DI box.

The Whirlwind pcDI is the first dual direct box with RCA phono connectors designed to interface your unbalanced, stereo line sources with professional, balanced, low impedance equipment.

This unit contains two separate DIs - input your signals with one 3.5mm (1/8") mini TRS stereo jack or two sets of color coded RCA phono type input and through jacks. Output is via corresponding color coded XLRs.

podMIX



The podMIX is a passive mixer that combines a microphone with a stereo, line level audio source for connection to a single channel input of a sound system.

Use it to combine your microphone with a CD or MP3 player, computer, DJ mixer, etc., for paging and announcing over background music in banquet halls, sports arenas and party houses.

Accepts the stereo line inputs via 1/8" stereo jack or dual RCA phono jacks and sums them with the microphone into a single balanced mono output. These are wired in parallel and can be used as a loop thru from one to the other.

  • A variable attenuator on the line input allows level matching and mixing between the music source and the microphone.

  • Mute switches on both the mic and line inputs provide convenient on / off control of each signal.
